Whilst I have good stock levels for most motor kit components, some motor shipments from my suppliers are affected by events in China (and now globally). Out of stock kits will be restocked as soon as possible, but I may not be able to provide a specific timescale. Please subscribe to updates for out of stock products (on each product's listing page) and you'll get an email notification as soon as new stock is added.
Dispatch: My wife is currently pregnant and in the government-defined more vulnerable group, so I have had to suspend next day dispatch and reduce the amount of contact that we have with public spaces. Until national restrictions are relaxed, I will ship orders at mid-day each Tuesday. Where possible, I will try to post items that are not 'signed for' on Fridays as well, but I cannot guarantee it. Please rest assured that orders will be shipped as soon as they can be, but it may take a few days longer than normal.
Thank you for your understanding and support. Stay well.
Diode Voltage Dropper Components (Surface Mount) Kit (for 6V CD/DVD Motor Conversion)
If you’re using a 6V dc motor in your Lima or Hornby ringfield motor conversion, and you’re using DC control or DCC without CV5 functionality, you’ll need to consider a diode voltage dropper to protect the motor from over-voltage and current.
Our diode voltage dropper components (surface mount/SMD) kit includes all of the core components – four surface mount diodes, a piece of pre-cut and scored circuit board and a length of Kapton tape – saving you preparation time and hassle.
All you have to do is solder the diodes onto the circuit board, followed by the wires to the motor/from the pickups or decoder. Use the Kapton tape (it’s got a protective film over its sticky side) to insulate all exposed copper.
Detailed instructions are available in our ringfield adaptor kit instructions booklet.
We are currently experiencing a significant volume of email enquiries and will not be able to provide as quick a response as we normally aim for. As many enquiries are of a technical nature, we spend time providing detailed advice which can take time to prepare, so please bear with us. We will be prioritising emails relating to existing or recent orders. Dismiss
